Eco
Community
The
Zentara Centre & Eco-Community represents an ideal new model of
society wherein approximately 70 consciously aware, creative and skilled
people reside in natural, luxurious surroundings whilst working, serving
and sharing their talents with the many visitors and retreatants who
come to the Centre for healing, creative development and spiritual
inspiration.
In a private Community setting, residents will be housed in beautiful
eco-friendly dwellings within a 5-10 minute walk along tree-lined pathways
leading back to the main Centre facility, where courses and programs
are offered.
In their free time, residents have access to all facilities, may take
classes, receive healing sessions, eat at the organic Café, attend
regular music & performance evenings, and contribute in creative
ways to their collective home and workplace.
A barter system will be utilised by members for the exchange of goods
and services. Visitors will pay cash for courses, programs and accommodation,
providing revenues for the Centre and wages where necessary.
Creative, responsible individuals (and their families) who apply for
open positions will be invited to become residents based on specific
criteria. Their skills, competence, experience and relevance to the Centre's
needs (healing, teaching, creativity, ecology, etc), as well as their
emotional maturity, open-heartedness, and ability to communicate and
cooperate with others will all be taken into account.
Residents will sign a 1or 2 year contract (depending on their position)
to participate within the community, offering their unique services.
Once they have demonstrated their competence, commitment and integrity,
and are fully embraced by other members, they may apply for permanent
residency within the community.
A progressive mediation / conflict resolution service will be readily
available to ensure harmonious relations between members. In addition
to an appointed Councillor, other healers, teachers and qualified residents
may attend the council to add their assistance and support.
It is intended that this community structure and Centre will eventually
be replicated in other regions around the world, providing a living example
of cooperative lifestyle and environmental sustainability.
